"This is the perfect example of a restaurant that I wanted to love, but didn't. Because of the reviews, the lovely menu, and the beautiful location I came with high expectations and my wife and I invited some friends to join us for a nice Friday evening out. When we arrived, I was awestruck by the beautiful grounds. The restaurant itself was also beautiful. This has the potential to be an incredible venue. When we first arrived we were quickly seated. Our server warned us that they were out of some of their wine selection, which should have been an ominous sign, since we arrived at 6:30 pm on a Friday evening and this restaurant is only open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The wines were not the only thing they were out of. Our server said he wasn't sure about what craft beers they had in stock, but he would be happy to check for us. Fortunately they had a nice hazy IPA. We got our drinks fairly quickly, but it took a really long time for anyone to take our food order. Eventually our server came by and asked if we were ready and we placed our order. Two of us ordered their signature dish, the slow cooked short ribs. Unfortunately, after several minutes our server returned saying they were out of the short ribs. The chicken looked good so we each switched from short ribs to chicken. My wife ordered the mushroom trio and the other member of our party ordered the burger. We also ordered several sides, including the baby cheesy rosemary potatoes, the ezquites, and the garden salad. I will day that all of the food was excellent. The chicken was juicy and moist (and was a huge serving), my wife loved the mushroom trio, the burger was cooked perfectly, and all of the sides were very good. The issue was that our meals came out of the kitchen somewhat piecemeal, my wife was halfway done with her mushroom trio before I got my chicken and the sides all came out a while after we received our main courses. I guess my biggest complaint about this place was the service. It was chaotic at best. We saw several tables come in, order, eat, and leave while we frequently had long lapses with nobody coming to our table. Nobody checked on us, nobody offered to refill our drinks. We semed to have two different servers and yet both of them made us feel neglected. We had probably finished our meals for 20-30 minutes and we actually had to flag someone down to clear our plates and tell us about desserts. Once again they were out of another menu item. They only had two types of dessert, chocolate tart and cheesecake, but after we ordered one of each to share, the server returned from the kitchen to tell us they were out of the chocolate tort. I wanted to give this restaurant five stars for atmosphere because it was so beautiful, but for a good portion of our meal we had several young children running around and screaming in our section of the dining room. I want to emphasize that this is not necessarily the restaurant's fault. I love kids and I love that this restaurant is striving to provide a family atmosphere, but at the same time this did detract from our meal. As I said, I wanted to love this place. I see a ton of potential, but to get there they need to make sure they are properly provisioned (they shouldn't be running out of so many menu items on a Friday night when they are only open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) and they must improve their service. Customers should never feel neglected or disrespected and we left feeling like second class citizens."

"Lumbre is amazing! It's one of our favorite places to eat in San Miguel and we've been many times and even had a birthday party there for one of our kids. Relaxed and beautiful atmosphere. Great access to green space and nature. Kids love being able to run around outside. We also like going on the days when they open the pool and have a great time there. The food is delicious and organic, which is often hard to find. Drinks are creative and delicious as well. Highly recommend!"

"This is a lovely indoors, outdoors restaurant on the sprawling estate of the Finca la Devocion. The menu is not extensive, but what I tried was delicious: grilled mushroom Trio, in a reduction, fresh alfalfa, juice, and lime sorbet for dessert. I was the only client on a Saturday afternoon, but they were preparing to host a wedding party later on in the evening. Great location and great service recommended if you can find it."

"Lumbre at Finca La Devoción is an oasis in the midst of the high desert of San Miguel de Allende. It's a place our children can run around freely and we can put our feet in the grass and feel the energy of the trees flow through our bones again...and exhale. The food is deliciously curated and nourishing, and the coffee is strong if you head there for brunch. We can't wait to return."

"UPDATE: 05 agosto, highway construction completed! We visited Lumbre restaurante in mid-July while at Finca la Devocion, a eventos in Atontonilco. Lumbre is a delicious vegan restaurant from the people that ran Soltribe in SMA. The grounds (at Finca) are awesome, lots of trees and vegetation and well maintained. We really enjoyed our food and the Friday night Jazz. They have awesome mezcal cocktails too. It’s a unique set up and 20 mins from Zona Centro SMA (highway construction doesn’t help) but once you’re there it’s like a retreat set up. It’s worth the drive, and we recommend!"

"Excellent food, maybe the best we’ve had across many visits to San Miguel. The vegetable dishes in particular are the star. And lovely vibe and super friendly and attentive service. I will say I was skeptical before coming—couldn’t tell if it was really a restaurant from the google maps profile, but glad we came to check it out and stayed for dinner."

"Lumbre is a vibe: wonderful food, friendly service, and a gorgeous location. It has an enchanting, luxe resort feel, like you’re crashing a celebrity wedding - because sometimes you are - the restaurant is usually open even when there’s an event at Finca Devoción. Even when it’s busy the vibe is chill and the staff is kind and welcoming. It’s a short drive from centro, and totally worth the trip to spend an afternoon or evening in the countryside on a beautiful property. Everything on the menu is delicious to my NYC foodie palate; I’m getting hungry just thinking about the mushroom burger. And the best mezcalitas in town! It’s not open every day, so check first if you’re coming on a weekday. Pair it with a trip to the hot springs (La Gruta) and walk down the street to sister UNESCO site Atotonilco, and you’ve got a lovely day trip that’s only 15 mins from San Miguel."
